JENNY ADDS SPICE TO LORD TEDS QUIZ!!!!

The long awaited ‘Jenny’s Christmas curry night’ went ahead with great success….we would like to thank all the loyal customers old and new who turned up in great numbers, on what was a freezing cold icy night,to enjoy Jens famous South African lamb curry as well as a special Thai green Chicken curry and Lentil with spinach curry served with spiced potato and ‘sambals’.

As you will see from the photos Mary was on hand to to taste Jens dishes with yours truly!!! I have to say they were great!! The curries ensured everyone was ‘warmed up’ ready for ‘Lord Teds’ Quiz which happens every second Thursday from 9pm. (please check our website for updates).

Shane gave Lord Ted a hug (see above) to thank him for travelling through the snow to be with us or maybe the hug was to keep both of them warm!!!

Watch out for the events page as there will be another ‘Tastes of the East Night’ in the new year!!!

A massive thanks to Jenny for spending a lot of time in the kitchen on Thursday and to Lloyd for letting her in!!!! We had a great time as I am sure all our customers did too.

East Cheshire county council help clear the lane leading to the Bulls Head!!!!

All the team at the Bulls Head would like to thank the gritters for coming down Mill Lane for the first time in many a year to grit the lane to ensure access to the Bulls Head and local houses (and the Roebuck) was easier.

We had phoned the council on Tuesday after a few ‘near misses’ in the snow, We explained that the Bulls Head was somewhat busier than it had been in previous years and that more people worked at the pub and more deliveries came to the pub than ever before. For this reason the lane (all 800 metres of it) needed gritting so our customers too could safely navigate the lane.

The next day the lane was gritted!!! Now that’s what we call service!!! We know that the priority will always be A roads and motorways so we did not expect such prompt service. Anyway thanks for all your help!! Care must still be taken down Mill Lane but as yesterdays picture shows the Lane is reasonably clear so we look forward to seeing you all for a hot game stew by the fire.

British Pub week, Halloween and Guy Fawkes all at the Bulls Head

Well thank you indeed to all our customers who supported the Bulls Head during British Pub week!!!!

Halloween went off with a few howls and screams and the ‘trick’ was to be with us and ‘treat’ yourselves to a great meal or two and this was the case as the weekend was a big success.

Everyone enjoyed our ‘trick or sweet’ competition where customers guessed the sweeties in the jar while the staff ate them as fast as they could…!!! The original number was 121 and the prize was won by our window cleaner Pete….some are shouting ‘fix’ but it is yet to be proved!!!

Sausage week kicked in after Halloween and was a big success and many of you enjoyed fire works later in the week and used the Bulls Head to eat comforting food while keeping warm by the fires after the various local displays!!! We even had an impromptu display ourselves!!

Anyway thank you for supporting the British pub by enjoying the Bulls Head your local village pub!!

Beer and bangers goes with a bang!!!!

Yes ale and sausage week went off very well indeed. Infact over 200 portions of sausages were sold in the week and by popular demand the week was extended for a further 4 days!!!

Wicked Willy, Hot Lips and the full Monty sausages as well as our old grandad sausages proved the most popular over the time Sausage and Ale week ran. The most popular beer was ‘the Bulls Head’ bitter with 5 nines been sold in the week!!! A record for the Bulls Head pub!!!

A Sausage for every occasion!!!!

*Extended until Thursday 11th November due to popular demand*

Weetwood Brewery win the ‘Overture’ Competition!!!!

We are pleased to announce that The Weetwood Brewery, near Tarporley, Cheshire have won the right to brew our Autumn Ale ‘1812 Overture’!!! They pipped our very local Tatton Brewery in to second place and Woodlands Brewery from Nantwich were a close third.

It was you our loyal customers that chose the winning beer and now we can reveal for those that tasted the beers at the taste off that Weetwood was number one, Woodlands was number two and Tatton was number three. One claim to fame for the Woodlands beer was that all the ladies voting voted for it!!!

‘1812’ celebrates the date the Bulls Head was founded and is a fruity, hoppy 4.2% abv bitter with a refreshing after taste. I am proud to say ‘1812’ is now on the bar at the Bulls Head so pop in and enjoy our latest house ale and celebrate British Pub Week with us by being ‘local and proud’.

Battle for the Batle.

Following our story regarding Mallorcan wines we are delighted to announce on a recent trip to Mallorca by our owners Tim and Mary, the Mallorcan wine Macia Batle red is now agreed as a regular wine at the Bulls Head.

This smooth red with warming toffee flavours is likely to go on our list this Autumn after ‘fave’ reviews from our customers since the wine was shipped in to sample 6 weeks ago.

As a team we respect the views of our customers and as usual your response has influenced our wine choices. We look forward to seeing you all enjoy this great wine this autumn and winter.

New Gin arrives for the winter..

Here at the Bulls Head we are celebrating the arrival of Brockmans Premium gin which during taste tests with the team was enjoyed by Rachael, Shane and Nick and they don’t even drink gin!!!

If you love gin then come and give Brockmans a try you will not be disappointed see below for details

Brockmans is a beautifully made, intensely smooth gin to be enjoyed into the night. It is deliciously sumptuous with a daring allure. The creators of Brockmans, Kevan, David, Bob, Neil and Matthew had one thing in common and that was an enduring fascination with gin and its range of interesting flavours, tastes and aromas.
