13th ‘Lucky For Some’ Bulls Head Treasure Hunt sponsored by Lucky Saint Non-Alco Beer!

First Team

What a great day once again. A dry and sunny day when the Treasure Hunters rocked up to collect their clues before heading off into the lanes around the area. A record 13 teams took part, an appropriate number for our 13th ‘Lucky For Some’ Treasure Hunt! Thank you to everyone who took part. We all hope you all enjoyed the day.

The 13 teams competed very well for the title of Bulls Head Treasure Hunt Champions! Everyone enjoyed the drive out for 42 clues, as well as the random pub questions.

This is of course, the time when the 3p Car Club and the Goodfellows Car Club, both go ‘head-to-head’ to be treasure Hunt champions depending on which car gets first place!

In third place, winning a £40 Gift Card for the Bulls Head were the ‘Dumb and Dumber’ Team. In second place, picking up a £60 Gift Card for the Bulls Head, were team ‘Brum and Coke’. Well done all.

Since the very first Bully Treasure Hunt, way back in 2011, the hunt has always been about the rivalry between the 3P (Porsche Pub and Pint) Club and the Good Fellows Car Club and this year the trophy once again went to the Good Fellows with ‘Where’s Woody’ in their Aston Martin making it 7-6 in favour of the 3P Club so the Good Fellows are catching up!

We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Lucky Saint for helping us put up the most marvellous prizes for the Treasure Hunt.

Bulls Head 10th Anniversary Treasure Hunt!

What a great day it was! Mild, dry weather, eleven competitive teams and a great pub atmosphere to enjoy, while the ‘marking’ was done by owner Tim!

Thank you to all the teams who turned up and competed so well for the title of Bulls Head Treasure Hunt Champions! Everyone enjoyed the drive out for 50 clues and tried their best to answer some tough tie breaker quiz questions.

This is, of course, the time when the 3p Car Club and the Goodfellows Car Club, both go ‘head to head’ to be treasure Hunt champions!

So how did it unfold?? The ‘wooden spoon’ was shared between, last time’s runners up, Murphy’s Law, in their Porsche 911 and owner Tim’s, daughter’s Tesla team, the ‘Super Chargers’. Clearly no favours done by dad on the day! These teams were only 14 points behind the eventual winners, proving just how close things were.

In third place, winning a £20 Gift Card for the Bulls Head were the ‘Black Cats’ in their Jaguar. In second place were ‘veteran’ Treasure Hunters and twice previous champions, the Scooby Doo’s! They are consistent for sure, finishing third last time out too! They drove off with a £30 gift card.

Pub Plates were served up by Head Chef Andy, with our compliments, as a reward to the competing team’s endeavours and we raised a total of £70 for the Mobberley Parish Church too. Thanks to all the competing teams for their kind donations.

Car Club Meet 19, a great sign off to a great year!

Car Meet 19 (like Car Meet 17) had to be moved because of the weather to Sunday 20th October, as we welcomed over 40 cars at least to another great meet here at the Cholmondeley Arms. The weather wasn’t as forecasted, as showers hampered proceedings somewhat, but the turnout was fantastic for the time of year! Thank you to everyone who ‘rocked up’. It was great to see familiar faces along with some new cars and owners too. The owners gathered inside the Chum, in the main and enjoyed warming coffees and teas and of course the bacon butties.

The Cars of the Day were Mike and his impressive Ford GT 40, pictured, then Colin and his unique VW Beetle who picked up ‘best in class’ and finally Terry in his amazing Amphicar 770 from 1962 which still doubles up as a boat at 7 miles an hour and a car at 70 miles an hour, hence the numbers after the name! This was ‘Cherished car of the day’.

Pictured as well, are all the cars (hope I didn’t miss anyone!) that kindly joined us for the morning. In the end the sun came out and all was well for the final meet of the season.

I just want to say how very grateful we are, for all the amazing support the car events have had this season. We have seen an array of wonderful cars in all aspects across the pubs, dating back to Veterans and Vintages and many Classics plus of course ‘performance’ and ‘cherished cars’ too. We look forward to some very special events next year. See you all next season. Events will kick of next April 2020.

Tim and the teams.

2019 Bulls Head Treasure Hunt has new winners!

The Bulls Head 2019 Treasure Hunt went off very well indeed. On a rather damp Saturday (28th September) 11 teams turned up to fight it out for the honour of becoming the Bulls Head Treasure Hunt Champions and scoop the first prize, which this year was…..a Porsche Cayman or Boxster for 24 hours!

The teams had to drive a route that took them out towards Ashley before heading back via Rostherne to Knutsford and then Mobberley. We weren’t blessed with many Porsches this year, with the weather probably playing a part. So the Good Fellows had a strong field indeed. The three-times winning Collins Girls couldn’t make it this year to defend their trophy, so this left other favourites the ‘Scooby Doo’s’ to take a possible steal in their absence! The teams had to collect 51 clues whilst driving carefully around the countryside and they also had to answer 30 very tough (and humorous) quiz questions too. The teams also had to take five photos to bring back featuring lots of red things. The drive took everyone around one and a half hours.

All the teams arrived back safely and took in the Bulls Head atmosphere, while the papers were marked by Tim and Mary. Everyone made a donation of £10 a car and we raised £110 for St. Wilfrid’s Church here in the village of Mobberley.

In third place were, twice previous Champions, the ‘Scooby Doo’s’ team in their Abarth! In second place just one point behind the champions were ‘Murphy’s Law’ in their classic Porsche 911. The Champions this year were ‘Team Eddo’. In their Volvo 590. They are pictured with the coveted trophy which will have their team name inscribed on and will be on show in the Bulls Head for the rest of the year.

Since the very first Bully Treasure Hunt, way back in 2011, the hunt has always been about the rivalry between the 3P (Porsche Pub and Pint) Club and the Good Fellows Car Club and this year the trophy went back to the Good fellows as Porsche finished second on the day. We need more Porsches next year please!!

Thank you to everyone who took part it was great fun seeing everyone and we look forward to seeing you all in 2020 for the special 10th Anniversary edition!

We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Porsche Chester for putting up the most marvellous prize for the Treasure Hunt. I am sure the winning team will enjoy it.
