A great Christmas was had by all!!

A big thanks to all our customers for supporting the Bulls Head over the festive period.

Despite the freezing weather and icy roads so many of you managed to enjoy food and drink with us!!

Christmas Eve and Christmas day were particularly special for all of us in the ‘new’ Bulls Head.

Here’s to New Year’s eve please check our events section for details. Happy New year!!!!!

BBC 2 love Mobberley Wobbly Ale!!!

The Bulls Head was contacted by BBC 2 for a show starring Oz Clark and actor/comedian Hugh Dennis (pictured)!! They had found out about our now famous Mobberley Wobbly Ale and it’s aphrodisiac qualities!!!

They wanted to drink the beer on the show which is about great British food and drink. They were on a tight time schedule in the northwest and tried to get our great beer to the Manchester Beer festival but the organisers couldn’t fit it in!!??

So we said the only way to sample Mobberley Wobbly is to drink it proudly in the Bulls Head in the village of Mobberley, as you cannot get it anywhere else!!! Weetwood the brewers of ‘Mobb Wobb’ refused to giveaway the recipe when the BBC rang them!!

So Oz and Hugh you will have to come back later in the series for a pint or three!! The first pint is on us, boys!!

Warm up this winter!!! Our winter warmer drinks are doing the trick!!

We have launched our ‘nostalgic winter drinks’ here at the Bulls Head and they are certainly going down a storm in this cold weather. Top seller at the moment is our home made ‘Mulled Wine’ followed by our ‘Irish hot toddy’ and our own ‘Woolly Bully’.

There are many more to chose from as you can see from the board!!

So if you are feeling cold and want the perfect reason to get warm then come to the ‘Bulls Head’ this winter and enjoy some nostalgia with us!!!

JENNY ADDS SPICE TO LORD TEDS QUIZ!!!!

The long awaited ‘Jenny’s Christmas curry night’ went ahead with great success….we would like to thank all the loyal customers old and new who turned up in great numbers, on what was a freezing cold icy night,to enjoy Jens famous South African lamb curry as well as a special Thai green Chicken curry and Lentil with spinach curry served with spiced potato and ‘sambals’.

As you will see from the photos Mary was on hand to to taste Jens dishes with yours truly!!! I have to say they were great!! The curries ensured everyone was ‘warmed up’ ready for ‘Lord Teds’ Quiz which happens every second Thursday from 9pm. (please check our website for updates).

Shane gave Lord Ted a hug (see above) to thank him for travelling through the snow to be with us or maybe the hug was to keep both of them warm!!!

Watch out for the events page as there will be another ‘Tastes of the East Night’ in the new year!!!

A massive thanks to Jenny for spending a lot of time in the kitchen on Thursday and to Lloyd for letting her in!!!! We had a great time as I am sure all our customers did too.

East Cheshire county council help clear the lane leading to the Bulls Head!!!!

All the team at the Bulls Head would like to thank the gritters for coming down Mill Lane for the first time in many a year to grit the lane to ensure access to the Bulls Head and local houses (and the Roebuck) was easier.

We had phoned the council on Tuesday after a few ‘near misses’ in the snow, We explained that the Bulls Head was somewhat busier than it had been in previous years and that more people worked at the pub and more deliveries came to the pub than ever before. For this reason the lane (all 800 metres of it) needed gritting so our customers too could safely navigate the lane.

The next day the lane was gritted!!! Now that’s what we call service!!! We know that the priority will always be A roads and motorways so we did not expect such prompt service. Anyway thanks for all your help!! Care must still be taken down Mill Lane but as yesterdays picture shows the Lane is reasonably clear so we look forward to seeing you all for a hot game stew by the fire.

“The Bulls Head in Mobberley has to be one the best pubs I have been to in over twenty years of visiting pubs. The real Ale is all from within a 30 mile radius within Cheshire and if that isn’t unique then the Steak and Ale pie has to be….it is so good as is the fish and chips too. I have to say the website is really good also. It is informative and is actually kept up to date!! Well worth a visit but remember they do not take bookings as it operates as a proper village pub so you need to get there early!!”

“My wife and I happened upon the Bulls Head near Knutsford (Mobberley) whilst out driving last Sunday and we absolutely loved it!!! The ambience is perfect and the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was delicious!! We didn’t want to leave!!! ”

“A place to be very proud of! We stumbled across The Bull’s Head on a drive out and are very glad we did! It seems to be a fantastic set up with a great menu and a very relaxed but efficient service. It’s clear lots of thought has been put in to the refurbishment – decor is stylish and enticing. We haven’t visited Mobberley before but will definitely be going back to work our way through the menu – there were so many tempting dishes! A place to be very proud of.”

“The Bulls Head, Mobberley is the perfect local village pub, it has roaring fires, home cooked food that is full of flavour, local Cheshire Ales on tap and is a really friendly place too. I travel 23 miles to visit the Bulls Head because there is nothing as good nearer to me….says everything about the Bulls Head really.”

“I went to the Bulls Head in Mobberley and could not believe the transformation from being a tired, boring, badly run pub to a true ‘little gem’ of a pub!! It was heaving with people and must be one of the biggest business turnarounds I have seen!! The atmosphere was wonderful, the food and service great and I could bring my pet dog in to their ‘whisky snug’…..now I have an excuse to have a pint of local ale!!!”

“Hi Shane B, Jen and the team at The Bull’s Head.

My husband & I are publicans ourselves (in Wokingham, Berkshire) and were visiting my brother who lives in Alderley Edge (I also lived in the area for several years previously). Word had got round about the quality of food at The Bull’s Head, so we thought we’d treat ourselves and what a treat it was!! It has to be the best food any of us have had in months, if not years! The pub itself has been very sympathetically refurbished, maintaining a lovely, olde worlde pub ambience with open fires and tiled floors.

All three starters were perfectly portioned, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious – my brother had the mushrooms in cream & wine with shallots, I had the black pudding & bacon hash and my husband had the rarebit smokey – all fulfilling the promise the description suggested. My brother and I then had the 8oz sirloin, cooked perfectly to our taste and the vine tomatoes were a perfect accompaniment, somehow lightening the ‘heaviness” a steak meal often seems to give. The chips were perfect as well! My husband had the fish pie and, although trying to suggest it was the second best he’d ever eaten (after mine!) I finally got him to admit, after I’d tasted it myself, it was quite simply the best! We had Semi-Fredo for dessert – my husband and I shared one – which was glorious and neither of us is generally a dessert eater! All this and then a glass of port for each of us – he the 1964 white, me the 1978 – perfect finish to a perfect evening. The service was excellent – caring and efficient, without being pushy or irritating – all in all a wonderful eating out experience and we will definitely return on our next trip to Cheshire!”

British Pub week, Halloween and Guy Fawkes all at the Bulls Head

Well thank you indeed to all our customers who supported the Bulls Head during British Pub week!!!!

Halloween went off with a few howls and screams and the ‘trick’ was to be with us and ‘treat’ yourselves to a great meal or two and this was the case as the weekend was a big success.

Everyone enjoyed our ‘trick or sweet’ competition where customers guessed the sweeties in the jar while the staff ate them as fast as they could…!!! The original number was 121 and the prize was won by our window cleaner Pete….some are shouting ‘fix’ but it is yet to be proved!!!

Sausage week kicked in after Halloween and was a big success and many of you enjoyed fire works later in the week and used the Bulls Head to eat comforting food while keeping warm by the fires after the various local displays!!! We even had an impromptu display ourselves!!

Anyway thank you for supporting the British pub by enjoying the Bulls Head your local village pub!!

Beer and bangers goes with a bang!!!!

Yes ale and sausage week went off very well indeed. Infact over 200 portions of sausages were sold in the week and by popular demand the week was extended for a further 4 days!!!

Wicked Willy, Hot Lips and the full Monty sausages as well as our old grandad sausages proved the most popular over the time Sausage and Ale week ran. The most popular beer was ‘the Bulls Head’ bitter with 5 nines been sold in the week!!! A record for the Bulls Head pub!!!

A Sausage for every occasion!!!!

*Extended until Thursday 11th November due to popular demand*

Monday 1st November – Monday 8th November

Yes at last the date is drawing close…. Sausage and Ale week is coming and we need you our customers to celebrate British Pub week and National Sausage week (IN THE SAME WEEK) with us here at the Bulls Head.

Anyone that can offer you a ‘hot lips’ sausage or a Wicked Willy sausage deserves a visit!!!!

Here at the Bulls Head, ‘local and proud’ we stand before you and offer what we believe to be the true sausage experience as we attempt to be ‘a legend in our own lunchtime’ (and dinner time too for that matter!!)

Read the details on our leaflet and come and enjoy our sausages and local Ales too where we will be unveiling our winning Brewer for our Autumn beer……1812 Overture Ale.
